Fleeting is Winter

Tattered yellow leaves,
Buds breaking and white flowers.
Fleeting is winter!

Winter in the San Francisco Bay Area has been very mild, like last February’s Year with No Winter. By mid-January, we still haven’t had a killing frost — very unusual. Our currant, ribes sanguineum glutinosum, is starting to bloom, although it hasn’t lost its leaves yet.
