Sunday Farmer’s Market

This morning we visited our favorite farmer’s market, held Sundays in Mountain View, California. We shop for fruits and vegetables. The prices are comparable to those in grocery stores and produce stands, but the quality is generally high. The warm weather is ending, and we’ll miss the vegetables and fruits of summer.

As usual, we purchased vegetables at the stand shown above. Kiong’s Produce is from Fresno, about four hours from here. They come every week to sell vegetables. Bitter melon, several varieties of eggplant, and a squash are shown above.

We bought vegetables from Chong’s Farm, also from Fresno. Peanuts, green beans, and bitter melon are shown.

We also bought two favorite foods: Cherokee purple tomatoes and walnut levain bread. We’ve planted these tomatoes for several years, but we skipped this year due to the drought and our summer trip to Alaska.

We just passed the equinox. The days are getting shorter, and the tomato season is drawing to a close. We’ll miss the fruits and vegetables of summer.
